Digimon games?

Post  Chameleon5 on Wed 26 Dec 2007 - 15:00

Does or has anyone ever actually played them?

I've been playing Digimon World Dusk for the DS recently, and I must say that it's a very fun little game with lots of cute and cool looking monsters Smile The story is a bit meh, but the battling and breeding aspect is marvelous. It's a great alternative to pokemon, as it has a totally different battling and capturing feel but is still a collection game with plenty of creatures.

You can also play online, so if anyone has their "friend code", then this might be a good place to put it up. I get the impression, though, that most of the people on this board are more fans of the anime than the actual games, but maybe I'm wrong Wink

Well, you can always import Smile The Nintendo DS is region free, and that's what the newest games are on. If you can read english, then see if you can get it from Amazon.com or something similar.

As for the digimon games being poor imitations of Pokemon, I think that's a little bit mistaken Wink First off, Digimon began around 1997 worldwide, and Pokemon began in 1996 in Japan and 1998 in the US. So, if you've only played the games as they came to the United States, then Digimon was first. Either way, they came way too close together to be in direct competition with each other. Digimon was more of a sequel to Tamagotchi. The games evolved from there, which is why they have such a different atmosphere from Pokemon.

However, they are both still monster collecting games, and Digimon has definitely been struggling to get out of Pokemon's shadow. It's best to play both to figure out which you prefer. Pokemon is more focused on collecting and battles between trainers. Digimon is much more focused on breeding and developing stats in order to get purely stronger creatures. To be fair, Pokemon is a much more balanced game from what I've found.

Hope that this helps to clear some things up Smile

That makes Digimon sound like other RPGs like Spectrobes or Final Fantasy.

Well, see it our way. It's a bit annoying to see a thread has been updated, but when we look at it, we find out it's all in a language we don't understand. If it's private communication between the two of you, can't it be done over email or private message?

I agree. It's spamming quite a few threads too... and since I don't really understand it, I'm not sure whether it's on topic or something that is best left for PMs or IM. But if they're discussing the actual topic, then let them - not only is it Alex's board but it's not against the rules to converse in your original language (unless you go OT and spam).

No, but it's preferred seeing as the majority speak English. But I have nothing against you guys chatting away, just as long as it doesn't spam the forums. Wink
